Behold the ultra-special ‘Best of April POPcast’ which features an assortment of the tunes that made the past month what it was (for me). These are the songs that I hummed in the shower and had momentary mental film credits set to; essentially, my April soundtrack. What did your April sound like? Feel free to share. Whatever it was, we must now wave goodbye to April 2007 cuz its never coming back. In all I’d say April was a bittersweet pill to swallow, but in a good way. Cuz that pill had lots of vitamins in it, which we all know are good for you. Anyways, May is upon us. Hurrah! “Hello May! What magnificent splendors await us?” Click on the funny button below to listen to the Popcast in real time, or click on the link to download.
(Oh, I should mention that I’ll only keep the April popcast up for one week only, as to save space for upcoming music/photo studies for the month of May. Grab it while its hot! Cheers.)
1. Девочки Не Хотят! (Girls Dont Want): Пусть Все Сосут! (Let Them All Suck It)
2. Mark Ronson (featuring Amy Winehouse): Valerie
3. Visage: The Damned Don’t Cry
4. The Phoenix Foundation: Going Fishing
5. Lynn Anderson: Rose Garden
6. Electrelane: Cut and Run
7. King Biscuit Time: I Walk the Earth
8. Broadcast: The Ominous Clouds
9. Feist: 1 2 3 4
10. Matt Pond PA: Closer
11. Cut Copy: Going Nowhere (Whitey Remix)
Outro: Excerpt from Vadim Kurchevsky’s My Green Crocodile
April was pretty transitional for me I’d say — at the end I came out of a major case of senioritis/ohmygodi’mgraduating, which meant that I had to stop a nice steady run of semi-heavy drinking and enjoying life with my friends. But it’s really a double-edged sword ’cause now I am a schooll monk and to have worked hard for like 5 years and blow it now would certainly not be a good thing! So, April concludes with a positive outlook and one month more of academic pain. /endrant
AND A NEW MUSTACHE! there will be pictures of a weeks’ development on the site in the next few days i believe (hopefully by thursday)
oh whoops, my april sounded like mad karaoke but also like these world music compilations i’ve been getting from the SF public library — mbira music from zimbabwe (so sad and pretty!), khmer pop music, and thai country music! and appalachian music. and then the new field album
Man Jon, I need to get my hands on some Thai country music. That just sounds so awesome. Thanks for your report on April; its always interesting to hear about what people are doing, and how they’re currently feeling. (Unless they’re doing and feeling better than you are. Pssh, no one wants to hear that.)
