… prescribing good feelings since 2000

Its high time for a musical podcast o’ fun for you all. Featured here are some tunes that sound like my summer so far. I haven’t been posting as often as I like these past few days; inspiration is a fickle creature. But I did get a pickle up my butt to put a mix together. This summer’s a busy one so far, finding me either on small excursions or preparing for my next big move come August. So if posts are fewer than usual, its for a good reason. And to my 3 trusty readers out there, don’t give up on me yet; I vow to continue bringing audio/visual goodness for these hot summer days to come. And not unlike George Zimmer of the Men’s Warehouse, I guarantee it. But For now you can all enjoy the June Popcast. (will be deleted after a week, so grab it now!) Sorry peeps; the popcast has vanished.

The Concretes: Seems Fine Shuffle

I’d like to point out a couple things here. 1: Just how miserable everyone in the photo is, except for guy smiley in the middle. And the reason why he’s so happy brings me to point number 2: Please look at where his right hand is. Oh, the look on poor Mrs. Grumpy’s face; I get the feeling she knows EXACTLY whats going on but becuase the shutter is about to go off, cant really do much about it. And I bet you that as the photo was being taken the two exchanged this lyric from the song: Guy Smiley: So fine. Mrs. Grumpy: No it aint.

The Essex Green: By The Sea

Not too long ago my Liddle Brudder and his gypsy songstress Madame Steffie came across a shoebox overflowing with old photographs at an estate sale. A violin solo and a few shekels later and the treasure was theirs. Each photograph is completely unknown to us and the stories behind them are lost. But some things in life are universal, so this week I’ll be scoring my favorite pics with their own special soundtracks. Looking through these mysterious photos made me think one thing; now that all we do is take digital pictures, will our memories ever be discovered by someone else? I mean, how many physical paper photos do you have of the last 3 years? Me, maybe a handful; everything else is on disc. Its just kinda strange how my photo albums stopped growing somewhere around the turn of the century. Ah, such is progress (for what its worth). Oh and one more thing: for the absolute best found photo collection on the web head over to Big Happy Funhouse. This site is guaranteed to take hours and hours of your time so proceed with caution. But man, this guy is GOOD. (and make sure to stick your cursor over each photo for brilliant rollover captions that make the site what it is.)
Cheers.

Bruce Springsteen: I’m On Fire

So this weekend, I found myself up in the eastern Sierras for a little outdoor fun AND…. thunder storms. Oh you know, the kind with lots of jagged lightning bolts flashing across the sky. One of those bolts hit the top of this cliff (which incidentally was right above our little motel) and started an instant fire. For a split second I thought it was over for me. But then all the water carrying planes and helicopters started flying overhead and that made me feel better. Yes folks, Marnie lives a life of danger just to bring you an exciting photo to enjoy your Springsteen with. Next week I’ll be blogging from the belly of a crocodile. Stay tuned!
