Things got a bit rowdy at my weekly wine tasting/knitting bee tonight. I was hoping the group could advise me on whether or not to add ruffles to the pair of cabled granny panties I was working on. You might be thinking that this is a relatively simple matter, but the room was sharply divided. Opinions were strongly stated, tempers flared, and a consensus could not be reached. On the one hand, who doesn't love a little extra flourish? The naysayers were quick to counter that ruffles would decrease the utility of the finished garment. Mavis and Claude almost came to blows, but luckily I had this little old popcast laying around, and peace and order were restored in no time. I still an undecided on what to do with the undies; perhaps the ruffles can be detachable?

Perhaps, Ms. Gina Zee, the ruffles can detach and convert into a lovely dickie for daywear? I can’t tell you the number of times I wish I had the illusion of a turtleneck underneath a v-neck sweater without actually having to deal with the long, constricting arms of a real turtleneck. Plus, I think a knit dickie and cable undies would make for pretty sassy eveningwear.

Dr. Marnie

also, gina zee: thanks for the awesome echo & the bunnymen track. i totally forgot about them and am excited to dig into old albums asap!
Ooh, I like the idea of turning the ruffles into a dickie, or perhaps some sort of lace collar à la Judge Judy. Glad you ladies liked the tunes!
