Pop! & Circumstance

Hi! My name is Marnie.
Once upon a time I had a radio show on KDVS 90.3fm in Davis, CA. It was called Pop! & Circumstance. On that show I featured a variety of underground pop music the world over. It was super fun. Eventually it was time to move on, but I didn’t want to stop sharing fun music so I set up a blog named after my old radio show (I’m quite fond of the name).

Things I love: art, music and pop culture (and the muppets). I figured I’d use Pop! & Circumstance as a receptacle for interesting representations of all three. And so on any given day here you can find minifilms, popcasts or photo/music posts - scored photographs consisting of an image - moving or still - set to a piece of music (the association may be in the lyrics, the title or simply the mood of the song). The fancy flash player lets you listen to the song instantly. Its kind of like opening one of those musical birthday cards, only its not necessarily your birthday. I’ve also been known to post music videos and other miscellany cuz life’s more fun that way.
