Revel in the majesty of Slade’s ORIGINAL version of Cum on Feel the Noize in full Glam awesomeness. You may or may not know that this original preceded Quiet Riot’s hit version by 10 years. AND Slade’s linuep includes a nun bejeweled with mirrors. Obviously, there’s nothing more to say. Marnie out.

This crazy jesus-ska group has quite a name: "Sonseed". (why does that sound so evil..?) The thing is, this song is totally cute and catchy and I could totally see myself boppin’ around to this if the lyrics were about lollipops, milkshakes and dancehalls. But… its.. not. Its about, Jesus. Snap.

Liddle Brudder, you truly rock for showing me the light. Particularly this light which is cast off a thousand chandelier crystals, pulsing neon dancefloor squares and glittering gold lamé pants. Does it get any better? Wait – it might. Remember this disco fabuloso clip from last April?  Guess what: ITS THE SAME GUY. Cha-ching! Also, how hard do you think it would be to recreate this set, say, in a moderately sized apartment living room? Theoretically speaking of course…

I’m granting myself 3 peep breaks and this is one of them. Gives me a chance to post some eye candy: The Banana Splits and the 2 cutest little singing peanuts I’ve ever seen. Enjoy!

Here’s something that totally kicked my ass the other day. Julio Iglesias? WTF? I know. I always thought he was some kind of smarmy 80s gigolo for middle-aged divorcées, but boy was I wrong. He’s one awesome guy and even was goalie for Real Madrid in his younger days before he was seriously injured in a car crash which incidentally, is what sparked his singing career. Now he’s one of my faves and this video and song are super awesome. So lets celebrate re-discoveries today; taking another look at the things we discount so quickly without even knowing much about them in the first place. That goes for foods (anchovies are delicious), music (you know you want to love Justin Timberlake, so just do it) and fashion (man-clogs are so on the verge of being the next big thing. I just called it.).

Update 5/17/09: Embedding has been disabled for this vid so take the time to click on the link to watch it.. Its totally worth it.

This is a real winner here. France Gall; love her. Her 60’s French pop songs are magnifiqué. But I found this video that showcases France’s disco years which I didn’t even know she had. And I like it; the song is pretty catchy. I can totally see myself roller skating down the pier to this (cuz thats what I do these days; roller skate down the pier.) But what I didn’t anticipate were the things that appear at around 1:37 of the video. Just let it play and you will be happily rewarded. (caution: this video may not be appropriate for persons with a fear of mimes, overalls and tubesocks.)

"I Wanna Be Your Lover" by La Bionda is one of my favorite songs but I had no idea that it had a equally fantastic animated video to go along with it. And are you thinking what I’m thinking…? I mean, this vid just had to serve as video inspiration for another disco duo we all know very well, am I right? No? Mmmmhmm.

So this morning while I was in the shower I dropped a full bottle of shampoo on my 3rd toe. Have you ever done that? Its pretty much no different than a brick falling on your foot. I think my toe sorta exploded. Its gross, but not THAT gross. I thought about taking a picture of it for today’s post but I thankfully changed my mind. Instead I’m posting this fantastic clip from the old Sesame Street days. Remember this one? Kamikluuks and Tutuluks? I hadn’t seen this in so long that I forgot the real words and lil bruder and I started making up our own like, Mukuluk, Pukalook and etc. Oh, just watch the vid and you’ll get what I mean. PS: My toe says hi.

Hello everyone! I hope to be resuming my regularly schedule photo/music posts by next week now that I’m finally on solid ground in Oaktown (holla). Its been crazy to say the least. But I’d like to share this new Spoon video with you in case you haven’t already seen it. This little yellow ‘Keepon’ character is my new friend. I think I really need one of my own.

Hello my peeps! I know I’ve probably lost all of y’all, boo. Its ok. As I once wrote before, adressing an empty forum builds character. Anyways, I am reporting that I’m alive and well after one hellish week of moving and garage sales. May I impart some words of wisdom on everyone in this empty forum? Dont save things. Knick-knacks are devil spawn. Also when at a Vietnamese restaurant, stay away from the Raw Egg Yolk and Sugar Soda drink. (my bro found that out the hard way. Uf…) Anyways, I’m at a local supermarket using free wi-fi to bring you this GEM of a video (some people go to cafes, I go to grocery stores). In fact, I love this music/motion graphics extravaganza/video so much I am confident to say its in my top 5 EVER! (what else is in my top five? the Take on Me video by A-Ha and the talking cat that says "Oh Don Piano.." More on that later.)

Anyways, watching this video makes me go wiggy and have a Pizzicato 5 dance party. I also hope some day I can make cool shit like this. Until then, enjoy this little slice of pie called "Lesson 3003 (Part 1)" by Pizzicato 5. Ciao!

This is a most bizzare yet captivating find over at TV in Japan. It seems to be strangely costumed (no really; did you see the face on ‘Tom Jones’ in the first skit? Um, nightmare city…) Japanese men singing top 40 hits with puppet backing musicians and dancers. I mean, this is probably making prime-time TV in Japan. And for that, I support it wholeheartedly. But there’s something slightly frightening about it all. In essence the Muppet Show was the same thing, but I didn’t get nightmares from watching that for so many years. (well, there was Dark Crystal which pretty much scarred me for life with those goddamned Skesis…) Enjoy!

This. Is. Brilliant. Flight of the Conchords; my new favorite show. Inner City Pressure, my new favorite song. This goes out to everyone who’s feeling the inner city pressure right now, and that includes me. I recommend you do what these fellas do; play your synthesizers and just ride it out.

Man, its been a slow week; posts have been a little uninspired of late, but hopefully that changes with the refreshing weekend up ahead. I need to git the hell outta dodge and drink me a can of ‘kerazy’. And also inhale this video. Cuz it gets better and better everytime I see it. Thanks Jon for suggesting it last month in a comment string. And thank you Javier Morales and John Michael Boling for creating this masterpiece. Be sure to visit their site for more wonderful insanity. So which misguided white kid is your favorite? Mine is Whitey McGoldTie towards the end with the white blazer and the wicked LA Gears. Rock n’ Roll!!

This video is so fun, if not a little charmingly corny. But thats just how I like em’, thank you. If you don’t already know, there’s a whole other world of Cardigans before Lovefool. Check out Life, one of my favorite albums ever which features this fabulous gem of a song. Now go to a carnival, preferably in Sweden, and hum this song while you’re on the ferris wheel. Ciao.

Every now and then, a movie hits your netflix queue that you refuse to return once you’re done watching it. For me its the 1982 epic, Disco Dancer. I. Love. This. Movie. From the soundtrack, to the plot, to the choreography; its so damn good. And as the fumes of this weekend’s viewing are still fresh, I thought I’d post a most awesome sequence for you all to enjoy. By the way; the ‘jesus-centric’ angle of this song and dance number is pretty great, considering that it came out of, hmm… NOWHERE. But thats what makes it so fantastic. And of course, the dancing. Fellas, get yo’selves all over these moves right now.
(oh, and do I love the smooth transition from jesus-disco to the next scene? Yes.)

Well, so much for the glorious Popcast I spent hours working on last night…oy. But don’t fret; I’m on it. Hopefully later tonight I’ll have something downloadable for y’all. But in the meantime, you can watch my favorite music video EVER. (Thats right.)
Cheers!

In case you haven’t already seen this, I wholeheartedly recommend it be added to your arsenal of bookmarked ‘happy things’. Because I’m pretty sure this video has the same effect as Prozac. And the best part is that this three minute clip requires no perscription, is clinically proven to be safe and provides inspiration for some incredibly awesome outfits to wear at your next dance party. (The only side effect? This video is extremely addictive. You’ve been warned..)

P.S: While watching this clip, I had the nagging feeling that I’d seen this guy somewhere before. After 10 minutes of extensive research, I found my guy; the electric star of another equally fantastic and unforgettable video seen here. Am I right? Yeah?

Big Country: In a Big Country

There is so much to love about this song and video; its one of my ultimate faves. The lyrics urge you to get your shit together, cuz you can’t let that dark fog win. Despite the hopelessness around you, the song screams at you to get up and move on because after all:

So take that look out of here, it doesn’t fit you
Because it’s happened doesn’t mean you’ve been discarded
Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming
Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted
I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can’t stay here with every single hope you had shattered

Add to that the awesomeness of bagpipe-guitars and you have yourself a masterpiece. Amen.

Knock-yer-socks-off uber-early music vid of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. Can we agree on this: 60s inspired space parties need to be happening more often. The end.

MC Miker G and DJ Sven: Holiday Rap

Jon's link to Body Magic in the last post's comment thread made me think of this precious video. Their rapping is just. so. good. And if you listen closely you might recognize this song as featured in this youtube gem.
